DELIVERING EFFECTIVE WEB-BASED PRESENTATIONS
As companies move to reduce travel time and expenses and consider safer, more secure ways to collaborate, the Web-based e-presentation is becoming more prevalent. Internet conferencing software available today allows audiences to view presentations via their web browser and listen to them over the telephone or in some cases through their computer speakers.
Presenters need to adapt a new set of presentation skills to be effective in this new medium. Since audiences are subject to the distractions of their “connection location,” such as the home or office, presenters need to know how to keep the audience’s attention focused on the presentation message.
The purpose of this workshop is to help participants understand this new and powerful medium and help them find success with this type of presentation. The course will be driven by the objectives of the group, including how the team wants to be perceived over the Internet.
Course Outline
Using your on-line meeting software, presenters participate in this web-based training. Participants identify the challenges that face them in this new medium and the workshop gives them the tools they need to address these challenges. The session then focuses on the delivery skills needed to be successful in this medium. Because an audience focuses primarily on how a speaker sounds and on how a speaker works with visuals, the remainder of the workshop is focused on these two components. Participants are coached on creating an effective speaking voice focusing on volume, pitch, and pacing. Finally, participants work with visual presentation materials and are introduced to the concept of synchronizing their auditory and visual messages.
